Today is bone marrow extraction day for Justin as part of the NurOwn trial at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. He had bone marrow extracted from 10 sites in both hips. It was a long day but the procedure went well and Justin is feeling ok, just a bit sore and tired. The bone marrow will be grown under conditions that cause them to secrete high levels of neurotrophic factors that support the growth, survival, and maturation of nerve cells. Hoping they do the same for Justin! (haha)
We’ll return next month to have it injected into his spinal canal for the first of three injections every other month. We’re feeling blessed to be part of this groundbreaking trial and have high hopes that it will one day improve the lives of everyone with ALS. We’ll keep you posted!
